Tough Act To Follow
With the superstar status of Buenna Vista and Vodka, expectations are high for Apapane to follow in the hoof prints of the two icons this Sunday in the G1 Japanese Oaks. Having won the first leg of the triple crown in Hanshin last month, Apapane won't find history on her side to snag the double. Only 4 horse have won the fillies triple crown in the last 25 years, the last being Still In Love in 2003. Going from 1600 meters in the previous race to 2400 meters in the Oaks, won't be a disadvantage for Apapane, but more importantly as far as wagering is concerned, the longer distance could very well be more advantageous for her challengers like Shoryu Moon, Shimnei Fuji, and Best Cruise, just to name a few that have a chance to contend.
