March 27th

HANSHIN 11 Race

#5 Jo Cappuccino ..This is a difficult race for me to get my head around. Never that consistent but Jo perhaps is turning the corner into being more than a " one hit wonder". Will take it easy on what is only the second G1 of the year.

The Wager: #5 with 4,12,13,14 ¥3000 Each-Way Exacta ( ¥24,000)

Robert, yeah definitively let us know when u coming over. I will also buy a wheel ticket (15) all horse with Shonan Alba for a 1000 yen apiece for my personal wagers. He seems a little over his head here but he is one of my favorite horses and if he came in I would most likely smack my head against the wall all day/night.

Did you boys watch the World Cup last night? I won't spoil the result, but I was definitely happy I bet it! :)

I'll let you know when I'm thinking about coming down real soon. I'll throw a few dates out there and you guys can tell me when is best for you.

Terrible result for me. I had bet 500$ across the board ( 1500) on Buenna earlier in the week. Then a few nights ago I was going to buy Rulership but ( 888) suspended my wagers for this race. I couldnt understand why since it was a different race than the Cup. Anyways it was sorted out and I bet Rulership..Lost the Sheema. I was way to heavy in Buenna in the Cup so I bet Pisa with 5 other horses in doubles at 9-1 EXCEPT for TRANCEND..unbelievably
stupid. I had a hunch the japanese would do
well just because of the earthquake,etc...a simple box of the japanese horses would have netted a great return. How did u do Robert?

I didn't know anything about the rest of the horses in the field so I put $200 on Buena, $200 on Pisa and $100 on Transcend to win. In retrospect, I really wish I would have boxed the 3 horses in exactas, but I am not complaining. I had the exact same feeling as you about the Japanese horses doing well because of all that is going on...

I am strongly leaning on making Kinshasa my key horse today. All the trends say to box 7,8 and 15 though... After capping the race I came up with 4, 5, 8 and 13... lol I am really struggling to make a decision. I will post my final plays in a couple of hours. I will definitely sprinkle a little love Alba's way too. If he hits the board, it will be huge! :)

The 11R at Hanshin is pretty mind boggling isn't it?! I like 4 and 8 the best so I will be betting 4,5,8,13 and then 4,8,12,15 in each way exactas for ¥1000 and ¥500 respectively. I'm also going to bet 2 with 4,5,8,12,13,14,15 and 14 with 4,5,8,12,13,15 in ¥500 quintellas. I am betting a total of ¥24,500. I could make a killing or hit and still lose money...

In the 12R I like 3,5,6&8. I'll probably make some insurance bets with 14 too.

GL today! :)

robert, i think you had a good weekend. I went 0-6. Dubai was a missed opportunity, and todays Kokura 6th race had big money written all over it. I had a 6 horse box with everyone over 20.1 but missed out on the second place horse #7 that was 14.0. I had included the winner at 60-1 and the 3rd place horse also. I hate myself when you read the race clearly but still miss out .

That would've been huge, if you would've hit the 6th race at Kokura. I've had more than a few bad beats in my day so I feel your pain. I hate when you call a race and then not bet it properly...

Let's win a few races next weekend!

I was just capping this weekend's Nikkei Cup and I really cannot see any other horses besides Rose, Hiruno or Pelsa taking the top two spots. I guess Big Week or To The Glory could slip into the 2nd spot, but I don't really see it happening... What do you boys think?

I haven't started capping it yet but I'm pretty sure To The Glory will be the favorite. What is your reason for ranking him outside the top 3? And I would really like to see Hiruno go to the Osaka Hai on Sunday. I think he's much better suited to 2000 m.

Im on the other race..Lord challenge. Absolute will be 40-1 or better. He is due for a good run. Of course. ive been saying this since his last 4 races where he is now at 0-4, maybe this time??

Sean, I totally agree with you that Hiruno is best suited for 2000m or less, but if he runs in the Nikkei Cup on Saturday, I'll probably back him. With him it is all about the final corner. If his jockey, most likely Fujita, can put him in striking distance, I feel confident he can out run horses like To The Glory down the stretch. Then again, if Lispori (sp??) is on To The Glory, I might have to change my prediction. That guy has been on fire! He could easily out jockey Fujita in my opinion.

I would definitely find it a little strange if To The Glory is the favorite. Although I have almost always faded him (and lost doing it!!), I think that Rose is the class of this race. The only horse I could see beating him is Pelusa if he can FINALLY put it all together. That horse is so frustrating, but I think it finally might be his time to shine.

So I like 1. Rose 2. Pelusa 3. Hiruno 4. Glory 5. Big Week. I think the odds will be low so I'm planning to bet pretty heavy on 3 horses with Rose as my key. If Hiruno runs on Sunday, that'll make my decision so much easier, I guess...

Keith, I'll definitely sprinkle a little love on Absolute. He's gotta hit the board sooner or later!

Sean said...

Well, To The Glory was favored over Hiruno in the Kyoto Kinen and TTG totally destroyed him down the stretch but it seems like Hiruno's connections are gonna make the sensible choice and opt for the Osaka Hai. But now that I think about it, yeah, Rose K will probably be the favorite (especially since Rispoli won't be riding TTG) and To The Glory and Pelusa will follow. Boxing those three horses should get it done but the odds won't be all that attractive. I might key on TTG because he seems to be getting stronger and stronger with each race.

Keith, Absolute isn't running. Gonna change your focus to a different race?

Keith Hagstrom said...

saw that. This is like the 3rd race in a row he was eligible but didnt declare. Good question? what to do now. Probably my focus will be on Goto/otonashi on oken sakura on Saturday as far as the graded races are concerned. Both seem to be in a minor rut so the odds could be very decent.

Robert, I thought i would start documenting my non racing wagers. My mind wanders during the spring with all the NHL and Basketball, Baseball, so this will help me to stay focused. Ive tried to get my customers to give other sports a chance at success but to know avail recently.

Keith, I checked out your other site and it looks like you had a pretty good day with your non racing bets. Well done! I stopped betting baseball a couple years ago because it takes so much time to cap, but I might just have to start up again. :)

I am also looking at keying Oken Sakura in tomorrow's race. I need to narrow done the field, but 15, 3, 10, 1, 13 and 18 (maybe even 8 as a longshot??) also interest me. I am looking forward to seeing how you are going to bet it.

For the Nikkei Cup I am liking what I persume to be the favorites, 9, 5 and 1.

Can't wait to see the odds on both races.
