June 19th

Hanshin 11 Race

# 13 .Provinage.. Trainer Kojima has been doing well as of late at this course and with a recent dead rail at Hanshin, this might be the extra advantage an outside gate will benifit from.

The Wager: Boxing 1,5,8,11,13 ¥1000 Each-Way Exacta except # 13 which will be wagered at ¥2000.

Hey robert, I like Provinage too but I dont think Goto is riding him. The 7th race in Hanshin on june 11th( last saturday) was the last time the 1 gate has shown any type of lasting speed so Top Lady could be vulnerable. I didnt want to box too many horses so I left out 4 and 10 but included similar priced horses in 5,11...I just try to get lucky on these type races and hope my numbers hit. Almost like playing Keno on deciding what long shot numbers to include/exclude

You are right. I knew it was one of those 藤 guys though. :) I like Provinage, but there are just so many other mediocre horses in this race to choose from to bet with her in exactas. Tough call! It is absolutely pouring here too...

one of those tough ones where if the 5 came in a huge payoff for my box but I went went the 5 instead of the 4...this will be the start of such summer box tickets and usual win patterns...lose alot of races, win money back on a few, and one big one to pull ahead. Unfortunately lost a " big one" from the get go.

Didn't play this weekend but had been including Broad Street in the various filly races this year but didn't get a result. But a horse that talented was sure to hit the boards sooner or later. One of those horses that you might wanna target until she comes in. Too late now though I guess...

I'm thinking that Rulership just might win his 1st GI title this weekend. He looks to be in fine form and I don't think he'll be bothered by a sloppy track if it rains like expected on Sunday.

Sean, will you be backing Glory again? What are you thinking Keith?

Sean said...

Not sure if I'll be backing Glory. His trainer has been talking down his chances, says he's not back to top form....Rulership will probably be the second favorite, maybe even the favorite if it rains a lot. His last win was insanely strong but he's not really good at racing if you know what I mean. He wins on pure talent. But he's not nearly as reliable as Buena. If he is indeed the favorite I'll go with Buena.

I was kind of hoping that Rulership would be the 4th or 5th favorite and then I was going to box him with Buena and Eishin Flash... Hmm...

If Fukunaga goes back to Glory who will ride Rulership?

Also, what do you guys think of Earnestly? Could it possibly be his chance to shine?

Sean said...

Yokoyama is riding Rulership.

This is probably the only G1 Earnestly has any chance of winning (he can't compete at Tokyo and the 2500 at Nakayama is too long)but it won't be easy. He was in peak form last year - it's hard to imagine that he'll be even stronger this year but you never know. He'll probably be on a few of my tickets.

Wow. The word verification for my last post was 'andochyr.' Is the goddess of fortune telling to bet Eishin Flash?

Im sure I'll be backing Buena but not sure how as of yet. The Teno was such a weird race, all those mini runs and such, but i might play Rose, Glory from it though. Not sure about Flash? Earnesty might be a habitual underachiever? Rulership had that monster run last time out that will get attention but this is quite a step up. Yoyo is back after only 3 weeks. Terrible start in the Yasuda so never could gave 100% down the stretch. Thule is an interesting choice particulate at 2200 where there shouldnt be an over aggressive hold on the pace with Glory.

Interesting you brought up Thule, Keith. He is the 5th horse I've been seriously eyeing... I would like him even more at 2000 meters though.

I think I'm going to be only buying the following 5 horses: Rulership, Buena, Flash, Earnestly and Thule. Most of my money will be on the first 3 horses I mentioned and I'm probably going to completely leave out Glory and Kingdom. Risky, I know. Kingdom looks tempting with Williams on top, but I think I'm still going to have to pass... Can wait to go to Hanshin on Sunday!

Keith, Craig and I will be in Vegas August 20-27. Are you still planning on going around the same time?

I thought that Thule was headed for the Nanabata Sho next month. He could definitely win that race and his connections would be wise to send him there. But I guess we'll find out tomorrow...

Robert, when you go to the track do you get reserved seats? I imagine it would be hard to do that for a G1.

Still haven't decided what to do about Glory. He might be the key horse - play him or dump him.

Robert, Im not so sure about Vegas as of yet. My daughter just got accepted to a vet school in the CARIBBEAN of all places. My ex-wife hasn't given me a figure on how much I have to pay in expenses so its already shaping up to be an expensive summer even before it begins. I'll let you know though. Also the weather looks like 80% chance of rain over there both on Sat & Sun..is that what ur seeing? Dont spill ur beer while ur looking out the window:)

Sean, I wish I had box seats. I usually stand near the rail between the last furlong marker and the finish line. It gets ridiculously crowded for the big race of course, but otherwise our group is able to relax out there because a lot of the spectators are afraid of the sun. :) Unfortunately, it's probably going to pour rain on Sunday so I'll probably spend most of the day inside. :(

Keith, that's too bad you can't make it to Vegas. It's actually going to be my week long bachelor party so we are really going to do it up!! Congrats on your daughter getting accepted to vet's school! You must be super proud. I'm sure it's going to cost you a pretty penny though, eh?! The Carribean screams extravagant and expensive...

I guess Sean was right and Thule is skipping the race. It has made my betting strategy a little easier for sure. I love Rulership, Eishin and Buena's draws. I also like Earnestly's draw, but I have a strong feeling he'll end up being the pacesetter (good or bad??). I'm a little scared of Rose now because of his draw. I have a strong feeling William's will have Buena marked. Most of my money will still be on my top 3 & then top 4, but I'll probably have to include Rose in my wagers now too...

robert said...

I have no idea why but I feel super confident in my top 3 taking 1-2-3. I think Earnestly could ruin the party and I'm giving Rose an outside chance, but otherwise I feel real good about my picks. :)

Robert if you come to Tokyo or we visit Kansai let's try to get box seats. If it's not a G1 and you go early enough it's usually not a problem (but you have to get there pretty darn early). I think there's a way to reserve them as well but you have to be a member of some club...

Looks like the track on Sunday should be reasonably firm if you can trust Yahoo's weather forecast. If the rain holds off I'll definitely give Rose and Earnestly some attention.
