Kokura Kinen

10th Race...# 9 Admire AURA...Will get between 4.8~6.4 in the win pool for a horse that looks to be headed in the right direction. First timer for the course and carrying 58 is a concern but with Ando back on board, Admire seems like a solid wager.

Sean, Im pretty much top heavy already with Aura so unless I win some morning races I doubt I'll bet the 11th in Nigatta...Firstly Ill bet on #5 in the 9th in Hakodate...his running line looks terrible but its such a small field and Im very partial to tanaka and the sunday racing co> especially when they have just the one entrant... lunch box for me would look like my wager if i do bet..with 2,8,10...possibly flying apple. good luck

I confused the 2 races..9th in hakodate = 11th in Nigatta...lunch box of course is in the 9th.

The last 4 times ANDO has taken the reins, AURA has finished out of the money... I'm thinking of taking brackets 1&5 for a couple thousand yen. I like smart gear and aura and it pays 23-1. The quintella pays 28-1 right now so I think I'll take the other horses for a little less (value? :) )
PS I loved you bet today (Seriously!) Smart pay even though it didn't hit. You definitely know what you are doing. :)
Cheers!

*your bet... *smart play... :)
I'm sure you understood what I was trying to say though! :)
PS I hate jinshinjiko! Way too many in Osaka at this time of year...

Aura is offering pretty good value. It seems like a lot of punters don't believe he's returned to form yet. It'll be sweet if he comes...I like Aura and Smart Gear as well but only cuz it would make sense. They're probably the two strongest horses in the field, but this looks it's one of those 'anything can happen' kinda races. And so I'll be focusing on the Hakodate main. I definitely like Lunch Box - he loves the grass in Hokkaido - but he lacks a big weapon so I won't make him my favorite. I'm gonna try Flying Apple in some quinellas and trifectas with 2, 3, 8, and 11. If I win that I might give your Tanaka horse a shot in Niigata.
Good luck all!

Yep, there is a hesitancy to bet Aura until he has a stronger performance but then punters will be behind the curve for value instead of ahead of it like he is today ( of course if he fails to hit the board that point will be mute)..* robert...i didnt realize that about Ando..i always thought he was quite successful on Aura but it was actually Yutaka that was riding him early on in his career..forgot about that..he is the only horse that is still running from that derby, now that Vodka has retired.

Against my better judgment, I've decided to play the Kokura Kinen - it's just too interesting to resist...Smart Gear in trios is the way to go, I reckon. Smart Gear and White Pilgrim with 3, 9, 11, 16 and Smart Gear and Sunrise Vega with 3, 9, and 11. Seven picks in total, mouthwatering odds.

Another frustrating day at the track...LOL

Emptied my wallet on the main races in Hakodate and Kokura which meant I had to win at least one of them in order to play the main race in Niigata. I didn't and was left staring at the marked card that had the winning combination (18 to 1 odds) cuz I had no money to buy the ticket...Oh well.

Too bad about Aura.

I was somewhat relieved in a strange way when Aura was scratched..I lost my earlier bets which is a good indicator of how the rest of the days results will be although they all came on dirt. Didn't have the winning horse marked in the kokura so I could have very well lost had Aura ran. But I guess u never know how the race would of played out.
